About Sal
I have always been interested in health and the body. During my second year of college and still unsure of the healthcare direction I wanted to take, I lost a large portion of my eye sight to a rare mitochondrial disease called Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy. I am now considered legally blind. For a while, I assumed my health related career was impossible, but I was enlightened when I discovered the field of massage therapy and bodywork.
Along my journey of training and learning, I have met and studied with mentors and bodyworkers who have strengthened my passion for bodywork and many who have taken me under their wing and taught me much of what I do today to help many people. I now feel that my vision disability is a strength to me in this field and enables me to be more in tuned with my work.
I have many specific certifications that focus my work in a more clinical approach. I practice Myoskeletal Alignment, Myofascial Massage, Trigger Point Therapy, Structural Bodywork, Orthopedic Massage and Sports Massage. I have advanced certifications in Myoskeletal Alignment and Myofacial Massage as well as Orthopedic massage.
I thrive on learning as much as I can in bodywork and pride myself on correcting many common and uncommon issues and injuries within the body. My clients range from athletes to office workers who have injuries or stiffness from sitting for long periods of time or carpal tunnel syndrome etc. I treat people with scoliosis, slipped discs, and even nerve pain.
My approach to massage work is truly about the body’s health and overall alignment. I enjoy the challenge of a sports related injury correction but also just helping work out the pains of sitting for long periods and performing repetitive motions ( i.e. typing). I have much experience, specialized techniques and advanced certifications in neck, back and shoulder pain as well.
I have volunteered my work at the MS Challenge walk in Cape Cod, MA and the Boston Marathon in Boston, MA for many years as well as other various athletic events. I truly enjoy working with athletes to help them complete their goals as well as helping the everyday office worker have a more comfortable life.
