I am a nationally certified clinical Massage Therapist and Bodyworker. I have certifications in Orthopedic Massage and Advanced certifications in Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques. I also have a Myofacial approach to bodywork which includes working the connective tissue throughout the body. Although my clientele do find my work relaxing, it is not a spa or Swedish massage. My work is more focused on aligning and working the whole body.

The type of Bodywork I do benefits many common and uncommon stresses to the body including:

sciatica • scoliosis • coccyx and sacral dysfunction • forward head postures • rib fixations • Dowager’s Humps • back spasms/pain • SI joint and illiac dysfunction • cervical pain • rotator cuff injuries • frozen shoulder • thoracic outlet syndrome • carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow • plantar fasciitis and foot pain • anterior compartment syndrome • shin splints • iliotibial band (ITB) issues • chondromalacia patella and knee pain • whiplash injuries • compressed disks • bursitis • tendonitis/tendinosis • scar tissue issues etc.

Myoskeletal Alignment Technique (MAT)

is a type of bodywork which blends the principles of osteopathy and structural integration to relieve pain. My MAT techniques are integrated into a deep tissue or clinical massage. The focus of this technique is on back and neck pain which is extremely common in the industrialized world, but also on treating the lower back, which is the number one chronic musculoskeletal problem today.

The basic idea behind myoskeletal alignment technique is that back and neck pain are caused by fundamental problems with the musculoskeletal system. Tight, stressed muscles contribute to pain by limiting freedom of movement, while weak muscles provide inadequate support for the body. This in turn leads to posture problems, stiffness, and other symptoms which create an endless cycle of pain.

By addressing the fundamental issues in the muscles and fascia, I can eliminate the associated symptoms. Believe it or not many chronic health conditions are related to musculoskeletal health and if aligned properly, these problems can be dramatically reduced or cured.

Orthopedic Massage (OM)

involves therapeutic assessment, manipulation and movement of soft tissues to resolve pain and dysfunction. OM’s focus is restoring function and structural balance throughout the body for both prevention and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal dysfunctions.

OM looks to resolve the origin of the pain and dysfunction either from trauma-induced injuries or postural imbalances that exacerbate the pain through daily activities. Common orthopedic conditions can stem from sports injuries, postural imbalances due to poor work ergonomics, chronic pain and scar tissue from surgery or traumatic injury.
